EmBuild

Supporting public authorities to establish long-term strategies for mobilising energy efficiency investments in building renovation

The EmBuild project, funded by the EU's Horizon 2020 programme, was implemented to support public authorities at local, regional and national level in formulating renovation strategies for the building sector, with the main objective of stimulating deep energy renovation and accelerating the pace of renovation.

The project assisted selected municipalities in the development of their long-term strategies, plans or programs for renovation of buildings by providing them: a tool for rapid assessment and description of the building condition; a tool for a structured collection and analysis of building technical and energy data, including information on implemented energy efficiency measures; a methodology for prioritisation of buildings according to their renovation needs; expert technical assistance to the interested municipalities.

Main partners in EmBuild were the German Institute for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Technical University of Munich and the European Building Performance Institute (BPIE) – Brussels, as well as implementing organizations from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and North Macedonia.
